God of the Valleys Too!

Then the servants of the king of Syria said to him, “Their gods are gods of the hills. Therefore they were stronger than we; but if we fight against them in the plain, surely we will be stronger than they…Then a man of God came and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Because the Syrians have said, “The Lord is God of the hills, but He is not God of the valleys,” therefore I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am the Lord.’”

1 Kings 20:23, 28

In the darkest moments of our lives, we often feel like God is a thousand miles away. God is with us on the mountaintops, we think, but in the valleys, we’re all alone.

Nothing could be further from the truth. In 1 Kings 20, the Syrian king was told that Syria had fought Israel on the hills and lost because Israel’s God was the God of the hills. So if they fought the Israelites in the valleys, they would win. Of course, the misinformed Syrians lost again because God is a God of the valleys too!

My friend, there’s nowhere you can go where you’re not covered by God’s mercy and grace. Whether you are in the pink of health or terribly ill in the valley of the shadow of death, He is with you and will never leave you nor forsake you. So don’t lose hope. The God of the valleys is your strength. He will uphold you with His righteous right hand and deliver you from your enemies!

Grace Flows When You Stop Depending On You!

This left Jacob all alone in the camp, and a Man came and wrestled with him until the dawn began to break… He touched Jacob’s hip and wrenched it out of its socket… “Your name will no longer be Jacob,” the Man told him. “From now on you will be called Israel…Then He blessed Jacob there.

Genesis 32:24–29, NLT

Most people would have given up on Jacob, the scheming deceiver and manipulator. But not God.

One night, while attempting to appease the brother he had stolen from, Jacob met the Lord. He grabbed hold of the Lord and for hours, tried to wrestle a blessing from Him. What did the Lord do? He touched Jacob’s hip socket and put it out of joint, so that Jacob wound up helpless before the Lord.

The Lord changed Jacob that night. He showed Jacob how it was only when Jacob’s grabbing and wrestling finally stopped that His grace was able to flow. That night, God changed Jacob’s name from “deceiver” to “prince” (Israel), and added to him blessings that were beyond his own efforts.

You see, we cannot try to wrestle blessings from God. It is when we give up on our scheming, deceiving and manipulating to get ahead in life, and completely trust His grace alone that His provision flows unabated.

This year on the 15th of January (my birthday date) John Bevere released his new book called “God Where Are You?” I haven’t read the book yet but I have watched his sermons on the book, read blog posts , listened to podcast audios about the book and I managed to listen to the first two chapters of the book.

For such a time as we are in this book is very important, every person need to be enlightened about the information in it , hence I thought of sharing it’s content on my blog.

As babies begin to grow the level of assistance offered to them reduce, to help them mature. In the same vain in order to help us grow into maturity a point comes when we feel like God is a million miles away from us. When his presence is hardly tangible and his promises are more further, he doesn’t quickly answer our prayers and we feel dry in our spirit. A point where we can’t help out but cry “GOD WHERE ARE YOU?” All this is how it feels but it’s not a reality, in reality God is actually always there with us . He is watching like a teacher in the exam room, leading us into maturity. It’s at this point we begin to learn not to depend on our feelings but God’s Word.

This place is usually refered to as the ‘WILDERNESS’ unfortunately when most people are going through the wilderness they think God is upset with them, when actually in reality he loves them so much he doesn’t want them to remain naive and immature. Using biblical examples we can see that before a promotion there are three stages God let us go through, these stages are;

  • PROMISE: God first makes a promise to us concerning our future, it can be in any area of our life education, health, financial or even relationship wise. For instance in the old Testament God used Samuel to anoint (promise) David as King (see 1Samuel 16:13). This was a promise God made to David that he will be king of Israel. Even Jesus after been baptised God spoke from heaven that this is my son in him I am well pleased(see John 3:16-17). This applies to us too God has made different promises to each one of us.
  • PROCESS: After God has promised us he then takes us into a process, most of us love the promise but not the process. David was promised to be king but after that we find him running for his life in caves. We find this similar even with Jesus, after his baptism and God saying he delights in him, he was taken in the desert. This is a process which we can refer to as the wilderness. In the wilderness God removes most of our weaknesses and sanctify us so they can’t embarrass us in our promotion. God uses the wilderness to develop a good character in us so we won’t handle our promotion with pride , naivety and immaturity. In the wilderness God gives what we need and not what we just want, things that seem evil actually elevates us to the promotion. The wilderness makes one hunger for God more and realise God is enough for me. Even in the wilderness we must have joy because our Joy is found in Jesus and not circumstances.
  • PROMOTION: Now after the process then God promotes us according to his promise. Immediately after the wilderness we find that David became king of Israel and Jesus had a very powerful and successful ministry. How long we spend in the wilderness depends on our attitude towards the wilderness. The children of Israel prolonged their stay because of a bad attitude. We need to trust God fully even when we think It’s Not Suppose To Be This Way.

Instead of complaining we must give thanks and praise in the wilderness. The wilderness is not a place of punishment or mess it is a place of growth and development . The wilderness is not a place of defeat there too God works mightily. It’s no longer about what I can do for God but what God can do through me. We are not the first ones to go through the wilderness great men and women of God in scripture went through it too. We are not alone in the wilderness no matter how lonely we feel God is always there (see Psalm 139:8) . It’s in the wilderness we learn not to do things out of obligation for God but love for God!

When you read the word of God what first comes in your mind or even before you read what are your expectations? Do you see the word telling you to do this and that or do you see the word pointing you to Jesus? Are you self-effort conscious or Jesus dependant?

John 1:1
[1]IN THE beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.

From this scripture we can clearly see that the word is actually Jesus who is fully God. This simply means everytime we read the bible we need to see Jesus Christ in each and every scripture. The bible shouldn’t be a book that point us to SELF but JESUS.

When you look at the old Testament before Jesus was revealed in flesh, each and every story, sacrifice, verse was a picture of him. Let’s take for instance the lamb offering that was a picture of Jesus our perfect offering on the cross of calvary. With the New Testament it’s even greater because Jesus became flesh and dwelt among flesh. The New Testament reveals and points us to Jesus too.

“On the first day of his resurrection, Jesus set a precedent for us on how we ought to read and study the Bible today. He doesn’t want us to approach the word with what we need to do according to the law but focus on him and his finished work on the cross of calvary.”

I encourage you to open up the Bible and see Jesus in the types and shadows in the Old Testament. Every sacrifice, every feast, and even the tabernacle and priests point to Jesus. In the New Testament, see Jesus loving and forgiving those whom the world despised, such as the woman caught in adultery. See Him healing the blind, lame, and all who were oppressed with sicknesses and diseases. See Jesus multiplying provision for those who lacked.

I promise you that your heart will burn, your body will be renewed, and your mind will be filled with His shalom-peace, joy, and soundness. I promise you that sin, addictions, bad habits, fear, guilt, anxiety, depression, and condemnation will drop off from your life when you are absorbed and occupied with the person of Jesus. They simply cannot coexist in your life when you are occupied with Christ and not yourself.

Hello, thank you for reading this blog if you need someone to talk about anything with quickly hit up on my email now I will love to be that person.

Friendship is a precious gift from God, God wants us to have health relationships that will help us not face life alone . While we don’t pick what to go through we choose who to go through it with . God has given us many great gifts and friendship is one of them.

Luke 24:1-6

[1]BUT ON the first day of the week, at early dawn, [the women] went to the tomb, taking the spices which they had made ready.

[2]And they found the stone rolled back from the tomb,

[3]But when they went inside, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

[4]And while they were perplexed and wondering what to do about this, behold, two men in dazzling raiment suddenly stood beside them.

[5]And as [the women] were frightened and were bowing their faces to the ground, the men said to them, Why do you look for the living among [those who are] dead?

[6]He is not here, but has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still in Galilee

God wishes us to have relationships that are based on the right thing. When we look at these women they where extremely United . Imagine they travelled all the way from Galile to Jerusalem to see Jesus. But even when they found Jesus was dead they didn’t split they still said let us go and offer Jesus body a good death . Such unit can only come when a relationship is based on Jesus Christ. God wants us to Base our relationship on Jesus . These women were brought together by Jesus.

Their relationship was formed before a crisis . They were friends before Jesus died and because he was the one who was their rock they stayed together even after his death . When you have friends who your foundation is based on Jesus Christ you get to have collective faith , strength and energy. Even when you are weak you are able to rest on your friends strength from God.

When you surround yourself with right people they become your SUPPORT SYSTEM and God speaks to you through them . This speaking is indirectly , for example you want to give up and a friend encourages you not to and helps you pick up your broken pieces and rebuild your life . That’s God working through them …No one is suppose to be an island we need one another in life !

God has given us so many good gifts and one of the best gift he has given us is friendship. God never planned for us to be loners he wants us to be surrounded by health and good relationships . He wants us to be surrounded by people who will shower us with love, support care and kindness . While we don’t pick what we wish to go through we pick who to go through it with. God wants us to have a strong support system.

Life is not like a game of Tennis. I don’t know if you know that in tennis coaching during a match is not allowed and it can result into a penalty. In Tennis when you are playing you are expected to encourage yourself, correct yourself and see everything by yourself but this is not how God designed our life to be . We must live life like boxers where after a round we go in a corner where people in our support system dress our wounds , encourage us, correct us and give us advise. Unfortunately most of us have being living a life of Tennis because of weak support systems.

Luke 23:55-56

[55]The women who had come with [Jesus] from Galilee followed closely and saw the tomb and how His body was laid.

[56]Then they went back and made ready spices and ointments (perfumes). On the Sabbath day they rested in accordance with the commandment.

Luke 24:1-2

[1]BUT ON the first day of the week, at early dawn, [the women] went to the tomb, taking the spices which they had made ready.

[2]And they found the stone rolled back from the tomb,

When we look at these women who first knew about the resurrection of Christ they were a strong support system. Imagine in this crisis while the disciples were scattered these women from Galilee were still together and were ready without fear to give Jesus a proper burial. The first thing I noticed that made their friendship strong is that their relationship had a common foundation all of them had their ground on Christ . These women’s friendship was based on the right thing because they were brought together by Jesus. What has brought you and your friends together? On which ground is your friendship founded? Trust me if you want to have a strong support system it must be based on the right thing!

When you look at these women they travelled from Galilee to Jerusalem (a 70 miles journey ) this journey use to take about 6 days it doesn’t take any friend to travel this much just to go and see Jesus! These women had one thing in common all of them were healed by Jesus. Jesus was the common thing amongst themselves. Even when they went to Galilee they went to see Jesus. Now look at these women after they found out Jesus was crucified in the middle of a crisis, they were still together. It takes a strong support system to remain intact even after a crisis!

Imagine having a support system that will rally with you in the middle of a storm . A support system that you will get vulnerable and honest to, knowing they will offer you aid. A support system that will share faith and strength with you. Have you ever been in a situation where you have no faith and strength but the because of the faith and strength people around you have you get charged up ? Imagine having a collective faith and strength from a group of friends who are in your support system?

Imagine being honest and vulnerable to friends who won’t use you ugly truth against you? How strong is your support system?

When a farmer is preparing to plant his crop he makes sure everything is in place, the seeds must be ready, the weather conditions must be favourable, the soil must be rich ect. Now once he plants his crops, they come a point where he has no power to make the seed grow but instead he waits for the soil(dirt) to do its work . Have you ever been in a situation where you have done all you can do but you’ve reached a point where you have no means or to power to change anything but wait on the Lord? This is for you 😊

When the seed is in the soil and the dirt is doing its work it’s invisible and for the people watching it looks insignificant. What dirt are you going through today? How much harm has the dirt done to you ? I am sure the dirt has made it look that you are insignificant to human eyes, but remember we don’t move by sight but by faith . The dirt is a hard place because you don’t know how, nevertheless it’s not a big deal when you know who! God is looking for people who don’t know how but know who,So they can fully depend on him . There’s a part we play once we reach where we can’t make it rain, LET THE DIRT DO ITS WORK!

Have you noticed how the greatest work is done when the dirt is doing its work and not when the farmer is working? Even when the plant develops it’s the dirt(soil) that holds it , once it’s removed from the dirt before harvest it dies prematurely . The farmer scatters but the soil produces. I don’t know what dirt you are going through today but trust me most of your progress will be made there in the dirt ! And after the dirt has done its work you will gleam sparkle and dazzle!🌚

When Jesus was about to be crucified to defeat the power of SIN and DEATH he was insulted, broken, wounded, mocked even left naked but he allowed all this to happen to him because he knew the dirt had to do its work . He would have called Angels to stop them but he didn’t because he knew the dirt had a role to play. He went as far as sleeping in the grave for 3 days why? He wanted the dirt to completely do its work .And after the dirt had worked you and me found our salvation!

Now the greatest temptation when the dirt is doing its work is to give up because the stage looks insignificant to our sight . But I am here to tell you keep sowing you don’t have to know how but who! Let the *Disappoints*, *Impossibilities*, *Rejection*and *Troubles* Produce it’s fruits which are better than the Dirt. LET THE DIRT DO ITS WORK!

Mark 4:26-29
[26]And He said, The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed upon the ground,
[27]And then continues sleeping and rising night and day while the seed sprouts and grows and increases–he knows not how.
[28]The earth produces [acting] by itself–first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.
[29]But when the grain is ripe and permits, immediately he sends forth [the reapers] and puts in the sickle, because the harvest stands ready.
